Westside Favorite Lighthouse Seafood Goes Dark After Decade

The Lighthouse Seafood, a no-frills Westside counter-service spot known for its fried fish and splashy murals, is calling it quits after about a decade on Fredericksburg Road. The family-run restaurant shared the news over Easter weekend and told fans it would offer just two final days of service at the start of the week. Regulars are already treating it as a last call for the classic fried-fish sandwich before the doors close for good.

The closure was announced in a Facebook post that went live on Easter Sunday, opening with, “Happy Easter from our family to yours.” The post continued, “We will be open Monday [April 6] and Tuesday [April 7]. Those will be our last days in operation,” as reported by MySA. According to that coverage, the people behind the restaurant have been in the seafood business for more than 35 years, and past Facebook posts suggest the Lighthouse itself has been operating since 2016.

Neighborhood Staple on Fredericksburg Road

Perched at 1212 Fredericksburg Road in the inner Westside, the Lighthouse quietly built a loyal following for inexpensive fried fish, shrimp and po’ boys, as noted by the San Antonio Current. Its colorful exterior murals and straightforward counter-service setup helped it punch above its weight on local best-of lists. Basic contact details and the address are listed on Yelp.

Menu, Price and History

In a 2025 visit, MySA reporter Polly Anna Rocha spotlighted the fried fish sandwich, stacked with lettuce, pickles, tomato, cheese and tartar sauce, plus a side of fries, and noted it was about $8.99 at the time. The coverage framed the Lighthouse as a budget-friendly neighborhood favorite, with daily specials that kept locals coming back for repeat visits. For more on that review, see MySA…
