South Side Chaos as Cops Say Woman Beat Senior, Then Charged Officers

Saturday night on San Antonio’s South Side ended with a 39-year-old woman in handcuffs after police say she assaulted an elderly person, then turned on the officers who showed up to intervene. Officers were called to a reported assault near the corner of Fairview and South Presa Street at about 10 p.m., according to police accounts. When they arrived, officers say the woman was acting erratically, screaming and throwing items before confronting officers and being detained.

As reported by News 4 San Antonio, the San Antonio Police Department identified the suspect as 39-year-old Kathleen Fasci and said she was arrested at the scene and has been charged with Assault Against an Elderly Individual and Terroristic Threat Against a Peace Officer. The station’s account says Fasci made multiple terroristic threats directed at responding officers before charging at them. Police have not released details about the elderly victim’s condition and said the investigation remains ongoing.

Charges and potential penalties

See Texas Penal Code §22.07 and §22.04 for the statutory language. Actual charges, enhancements and potential punishments will depend on prosecutors’ decisions and the evidence developed by investigators.

Police account and next steps

Police told News 4 San Antonio that officers were able to quickly subdue and detain Fasci at the scene. The department did not immediately provide bond or court dates, information that typically appears later in booking logs and court filings after an arrest.
