Last month, a vehicle plowed into a popular Las Palapas location in the early morning on Friday, March 13. Despite significant damage to its exterior, the restaurant opened for business later that day, but a month later, repairs are planned for the building.
A representative for Las Palapas reached out to MySA via email on Friday, April 10, to confirm that the Callaghan location will be closed for remodeling starting on Sunday, April 12. The plan is for the restaurant to reopen by Friday, April 17, assuming no roadblocks arise during construction.
“As one of our original locations and a San Antonio landmark, we are committed to its restoration,” the Las Palapas rep said. “We look forward to Las Palapas Callaghan returning better than ever.”
The crash that occurred on March 13 took out a chunk of the front wall near the entry doors of the Las Palapas on Callaghan, resulting in a pile of shattered glass and debris.
