UPS Truck Crosses Line, Kills New Braunfels Man On FM 3009 Near Schertz

A 71-year-old New Braunfels man was killed Monday when a UPS delivery truck struck his car on FM 3009 near Ponderosa Way in Comal County, officials said. Troopers and emergency crews pronounced the driver of a silver Lexus dead at the scene and shut down the roadway while investigators worked, leaving residents along the rural stretch between New Braunfels and Schertz rattled by the deadly crash.

Texas Department of Public Safety troopers responded to the two-vehicle collision on FM 3009 and said in preliminary findings that a UPS delivery truck crossed the center line and hit a silver Lexus. Authorities later identified the victim as Thomas Carter, 71, of New Braunfels, according to KENS5.

UPS Statement and Ongoing Probe

In a statement to KENS5, UPS Global Communications said, “We are aware of a traffic accident involving one of our drivers and another vehicle that resulted in a fatality.” The company said it is cooperating with authorities as troopers continue their investigation.
