More than $2.5 billion has been invested in Texas Walmart stores over the past five years — and the grocery giant isn’t stopping there. Several stores, including those in major cities such as San Antonio and Austin, will get remodels in 2026, according to a recent announcement.
Customers have a lot to look forward to. The grand makeover targets 72 spots in the Lone Star State and will bring changes to the pharmacy, delivery, fashion, and other departments. The goal, the company says, is to make shopping faster and easier. Photos shared with MySA give a glimpse into what it could look like.
“We’re proud to work and serve customers across Texas, and our continued investment reflects how deeply we believe in this state and its communities,” Elise Vasquez-Warner, Senior Vice President at the Southwest Business Unit of Walmart U.S., said.
As technology advances, the grocer is aiming to keep up with the times. Many remodeled locations will feature interactive displays that help shoppers picture what a product looks like in their home. Crews will also work on modernizing other aspects of Walmart’s digital services and in-store layout to make trips, including online orders, be completed in about one hour. This will mainly be done through the app, according to a press release. It should help folks navigate through the aisles more easily and have the ability to book appointments at their local Auto Care Center.
Other benefits include that Walmart+ members will soon enjoy free pharmacy deliveries, and more products from Oura, Jessica Simpson, and other brands are headed to the Vision Center…
