A security guard hired to help keep order outside a Carlsbad bar was arrested after video appeared to show him firing a Taser directly into a man’s face at close range, an incident that gun-rights activist Colion Noir says should serve as a warning about misplaced trust in people who wear a patch, carry equipment, or appear to have authority.
In a new video, Noir discussed footage from outside Park 101 during a World Cup watch party, where a man was reportedly struck in the face with a stun gun by a security guard. Carlsbad police identified the guard as 42-year-old David Marquez of San Marcos, according to the news footage included in Noir’s report.
Police said Marquez was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and assault with a stun gun. The case remains an allegation, but the footage and resulting arrest quickly made the confrontation far more serious than a normal dispute outside a crowded bar…
