A long-term blueprint for what SeaWorld can build, renovate, and redevelop across its entire 189.4-acre Mission Bay Park site is now heading toward a public hearing — and the outcome will be shaped by multiple layers of approval, including a state Coastal Commission sign-off that could extend the timeline well beyond City Hall.
The city’s public hearing notice describes the 2020 SeaWorld Master Plan Update as covering all five planning areas within the park’s site at 500 Sea World Drive. The plan proposes new attractions, upgraded visitor facilities, and long-range redevelopment guided by design standards for architecture, landscaping, and lighting. The application was originally filed in October 2019.
The San Diego Planning Commission is scheduled to take up the proposal on July 16, meeting at the Development Services Department building at 7650 Mission Valley Road.
