NATIONAL CITY, Calif. (KUSI/ FOX 5) — A 47-year-old man living in a group home in National City was placed under arrest Saturday morning after he allegedly set his apartment ablaze and fired a pellet gun at officers, according to the National City Police Department (NCPD).
Around 11:30 a.m., officers responded to a call for a welfare check at an independently owned group home on East Second Street in National City. The tenant was reportedly making suicidal statements and threats.
The man also had a felony warrant out for his arrest for weapons violations, according to NCPD.
Police arrived and made contact with the man, who reportedly barricaded himself in his apartment and made threats towards officers. Police say that while barricaded in the apartment, the man allegedly set his room on fire and began firing his pellet gun at officers…
