Ukrainian woman reported missing might have ‘voluntarily crossed’ U.S.-Mexico border: SDSO

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Law enforcement officials have given an update regarding a woman who was reported missing after some of her belongings were found in southeastern San Diego County last summer.

Ganna Kovrizhnykh, a Ukrainian citizen, was driving through San Diego County on a cross-country road trip before she was reported missing by a friend on July 12, 2025.

Family members told authorities the last time they heard from Kovrizhnykh (pronounced “Kov-riz-nick”) was on July 5. She was 38 years old at the time she went missing, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office.

After she was reported missing, her vehicle and trailer were found abandoned in Potrero, about seven miles north of the U.S.-Mexico border, SDSO said in a previous news release…
