SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Firefighters have knocked down a vegetation fire that burned approximately 2.5 acres near Convoy Street and eastbound State Route 52, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
The fire, initially reported as a 1-acre vegetation fire in heavy fuels shortly before 2 p.m. Saturday, was moving at a slow rate of spread when crews arrived. The San Diego Police Department said large flames were reported in a canyon area, but the fire appeared to be away from nearby buildings.
San Diego Fire-Rescue deployed five engines, five brush rigs, two water tenders and SDFD Copter 3 to battle the flames. Four of the brush rigs were from SDFD, while one was provided by the Miramar Fire Department…
