SAN DIEGO (KUSI/ FOX 5) — Three beluga whales safely arrived at SeaWorld San Diego on Saturday after being rescued from a closed marine park in Canada and traveling over 2,500 miles to reach their SoCal destination, according to officials with SeaWorld.
Xavier, Cyprus and Jasper are three male belugas who were transported together in specialized cold-water transport units, in what the park calls “one of the largest marine mammal relocation efforts ever undertaken.”
Animal care specialists were with the three through the entire journey.
