Poway Unified knew about mold at middle school but kept parents in the dark

Officials with the Poway Unified School District knew mold had been discovered in several classrooms at the Black Mountain Middle School but didn’t inform parents until 10 days after students returned to the campus for the start of the new school year.

Team 10 received a tip last Wednesday that teachers were wearing N95 masks after mold was found on carpets, desks and other surfaces in several locations at the school before the start of the school year on Aug. 13.

Team 10 asked the district to tell us what was going on, but no one in the district responded…
