A federal jury has convicted a 40-year-old San Pedro man of murdering two men in Lomita in 2020, closing out a case that traced the killings back to orders issued from inside a California state prison cell. Justin Gray lured two men from the San Diego area to Lomita on October 4, 2020, then shot both victims in the head alongside another Aryan Brotherhood associate, according to court documents.
Gray, a member of the Baby Blue Wrecking Crew, was convicted of two counts of murder in aid of racketeering, according to federal prosecutors, as reported by Action News Now. Prosecutors say the killings were ordered by Francis Clement, an incarcerated Aryan Brotherhood member who directed the shootings from Kern Valley State Prison. The victims were identified at the time as Allan Roshanski, 34, of Vista, and Ruslan Magomedgadzhiev, 40, of Tarzana, according to the Times of San Diego.
A Debt That Ended in Execution
Federal prosecutors established during Clement’s trial that the Lomita killing was ordered because Roshanski, a convicted pimp with Russian underworld hand tattoos, had failed to pay the Aryan Brotherhood its required cut from an illicit fraud scheme, according to the Los Angeles Times. Magomedgadzhiev was reportedly killed simply because he had accompanied Roshanski as backup that day, the same reporting notes. The Baby Blue Wrecking Crew is described by the U.S. Department of Justice as a white-only street gang based in Los Angeles County’s South Bay that operates directly under the authority of the Aryan Brotherhood, acting as an enforcement and execution unit for gang leaders behind bars.
Clement had been in California state prison since 1985 on a prior murder conviction while serving a 15-years-to-life sentence, according to the Los Angeles Times, and he denied gang affiliation during state parole hearings even as he allegedly continued directing street violence. A jury convicted Clement of racketeering conspiracy and five counts of murder in aid of racketeering, and prosecutors say he was also responsible for directing three other Los Angeles County street murders in 2022, including execution-style killings in Lancaster and Pomona whose victims included Michael Brizendine, James Yagle Jr., and Ronnie Ennis Jr.
Cooperating Witness Helped Break the Case
Brandon “Bam Bam” Bannick, a fellow Baby Blue Wrecking Crew member who assisted during the Lomita killings and was originally charged alongside Gray in the federal indictment, pleaded guilty a week before trial and testified as a key government witness against Gray and Clement, the Los Angeles Times reported.
