SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Caltrans is warning drivers heading southbound on Interstate 5 on Tuesday to be aware of a closure that might impact travel plans.
The Camino de la Plaza off-ramp, also known as the “Last U.S. Exit,” on southbound I-5 in San Ysidro will be closed Tuesday from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday. Caltrans crews will be conducting electrical work in the area.

Caltrans wants to remind drivers that there is no other U.S. exit past Camino de la Plaza, and those who miss the previous exit or posted detours will be directed across the border into Mexico.
Those who do not wish to cross the San Ysidro Port of Entry should exit at the Via de San Ysidro Boulevard off-ramp and turn right onto Via de San Ysidro Boulevard.

From there, drivers can turn left onto Calle Primera and continue on Willow Road toward Camino de la Plaza.
