Economic impacts of Tijuana River sewage crisis

SAN DIEGO (FOX5/KUSI) — We all know by now the Tijuana sewage crisis has taken a devastating toll on both the people and the environment in the South Bay.

We also know that as more sewage flows across the border, more beach closures follow, creating another problem: an economic crisis.

“Business owners tell me every weekend there’s less and less business on a Saturday or Sunday,” said San Diego County Supervisor Paloma Aguirre. “The parking spaces in front of their businesses are empty because nobody is coming to the beach.”…
