Supervisor Jim Desmond and San Marcos Mayor Rebecca Jones joined Assemblyman Carl DeMaio Thursday, September 24, in a rally against County Measure A, that would, among other things, extend the term limits for supervisors from two to three terms, i.e. 12 years. They event was in front of the San Diego County Registrar of Voters Office on Overland Avenue.
Noting that voting will begin in two weeks, DeMaio said, “We are here to urge voters to be careful in looking at the fine print. Particularly the local ballot measures.”
He declared, “Measure A is deceptive! Measure A is billed as a transparency measure but it’s anything but transparent. In fact, the politicians are lying to voters so they can repeal voter imposed term limits. The politicians shamefully put Measure A on the ballot and disguised it effectively as a transparency and government reform measure. When in fact it just extends term limits for career politicians who have run our county government into the ground. These county politicians have made such a mess and now they want to continue their reign by extending their limits.”…
