Inmate at San Diego Central Jail dies after experiencing ‘medical distress’

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office (SDSO) is investigating after a man in its custody went into medical distress and died at a local hospital over the weekend.

On Sunday around 2:20 p.m., several inmates notified deputies about a man who was experiencing medical distress at the San Diego Central Jail.

Deputies contacted the 62-year-old man in the facility’s dayroom area, where he appeared disoriented but responsive, according to SDSO.

After being taken to the jail’s medical clinic for further evaluation, he went into medical distress and was eventually transported to a local hospital by paramedics…
