The Woman’s Club of Vista Volunteers at The Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank

Vista, CA – October 6, 2026 — An estimated 848,000 residents of San Diego County are nutrition insecure and with the price of food continuing to climb the Woman’s Club of Vista jumped into action to help the good work being done at the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank warehouse in Vista. This was the 6th visit for the group which also coincided with September’s Hunger Awareness Month.

Twelve Woman’s Club of Vista members, along with other food bank volunteers, lent a hand sorting and bagging over 5,000 lbs of fresh produce including, sweet potatoes, bell peppers, and pears all to be distributed to community members throughout the county.

The Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank is the largest hunger-relief organization in San Diego County. Last year, the Food Bank distributed over 50 million pounds of food, and the Food Bank serves, on average, 400,000 people per month in San Diego County.

The Woman’s Club of Vista President and Civic Engagement and Outreach Chair, Liz Franciscus commented, “Enriching lives through philanthropy and volunteer service has been central to our organization’s mission since 1916. Our quarterly visits to the North County Food Bank allow us to roll up our sleeves and make an impact in a real and tangible way. The Food Bank is such a well-oiled machine and a pleasure to work with. From the trained staff leading orientations, to the warehouse staff moving massive amounts of food of fresh food with forklifts, to ending each session with a final tally of the amount of the fresh food that was sorted, there is a real sense of community and an understanding of the responsibility we all have to look after one another.”…
