A San Diego-based Navy destroyer has broken the record for the longest deployment by a U.S. destroyer.
The USS Spruance has now been deployed for more than eleven months after leaving Naval Base San Diego last November. The guided-missile destroyer originally sailed with the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group, taking part in military operations against Iran in the Middle East.
