The San Diego Humane Society said they hope the rescued animal will be able to recover and return to the wild soon
A coyote with a bucket stuck to its head was rescued from a flooded California field on Monday.
San Diego law enforcement responded to a report of a dog floating in debris with a bucket stuck on its head in the flooded Tijuana River Valley, according to the San Diego Humane Society.
The only way to reach the animal was by boat due to difficult terrain. San Diego Lifeguards assisted in the rescue.
Officials realized the dog was actually a coyote during the rescue.
The animal was taken to Bahde Wildlife Center for treatment. Veterinarians gave the animal pain medication, then removed the bucket from his head, per the humane society.
The coyote was transferred to Ramona Wildlife Center, where the San Diego Humane Society Project Wildlife team rehabilitates apex predators.
