One injured, gas station damaged after street race

SOUTH BAY — A street race went bad Sunday night after one of the cars involved reportedly collided with nearby car and crashed into a gas station, sending one person to the hospital.

According to reports from the scene, two cars were racing just after 6 p.m. Sunday when a nearby vehicle was hit, causing one of the racers to lose control and crash into a Circle K gas station in the 1100 block of Hollister Street in the Nestor neighborhood in southern San Diego County.

The impact from the crash sent a car into a pole at the Circle K, causing water to spew out onto the roadway, which has since been contained by SDG&E. San Diego Fire-Rescue and the San Diego Police Department responded to the accident.

One person was taken to a nearby hospital for a reported brain bleed.

There is no word at this time if any charges will be filed in this incident.
