San Diego Lifeguards tow boat of migrants from Mission Bay Channel

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A small disabled boat carrying over a dozen migrants was towed by San Diego Lifeguards Thursday morning, an official with the City of San Diego confirmed to FOX 5.

The boat was taken to the SD Lifeguards headquarters, a dock located at Quivira Basin, from the Mission Bay Channel. The city official said no injuries were reported, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection was notified of the incident.

Border Patrol said agents responded to the location and determined all 17 individuals on the vessel were adult Mexican nationals without proper immigration documentation. They were all arrested and transported to a nearby Border Patrol station for processing.
