Texas Border Success Spurs Migration Surge in California and Arizona

Over the past few years, Texas has seen many migrants cross its border. Since then, Governor Greg Abbott started Operation Lone Star to help protect the border as illegal immigrants and fentanyl cross the land with Mexico.

All of his efforts appear to be paying off as two other states have seen an increase in migrants.

Arizona and California see an average of 1,816 and 1,213 migrants a day cross the border in the Tucson and San Diego sectors as reported by Border Patrol. Texas sectors are below 1,000 a day according to CBS News.

Border Patrol sees an average of 716 and 536 migrants a day cross the El Paso and Del Rio sectors according to CBS News.

On Thursday, Governor Abbott referenced new plans to defend the border said according to a press release:

“In Texas, we’ve been able to achieve a decrease in illegal crossings only because of great teamwork.”

“Part of that teamwork is our partnership with the Texas National Guard, and we are currently working with the Texas Military Department to add more razor wire, anti-climb barrier, and personnel. The tools and strategies that DPS and the Texas Military Department used to secure the border would not happen without members of the Texas Legislature, like those with me here today. Working together, we will expand current operations in other parts of the border to decrease illegal immigration and ensure that we add more soldiers in the border region.”
