Thousands of SDGE customers affected by power outage

SAN DIEGO (FOX5/KUSI) — Over 6,000 San Diego Gas & Electric customers woke up without power Friday due to outages in San Diego County.

The earliest outage was reported at 10:19 a.m. Thursday night in the neighborhoods of University Heights, North Park and Normal Heights in the City of San Diego. In an update by SDGE at 6:05 a.m., 3,277 customers were still without power in these areas.

In another update at 8:15 a.m., the number of households affected was reduced to 1,405. The estimated restoration time for University Heights, North Park and Normal Heights is listed as noon Friday, which is several hours after the first initial report.

In another update at 6:15 a.m., SDGE announced another 3,493 customers were without power in the North County communities of Encinitas and Cardiff-By-The-Sea.

That number was also reduced in the 8:15 a.m. update, noting 98 customer remained without power. The estimated restoration time for these areas is listed as 9:30 a.m. Friday.
