A video shared on social media shows a California home’s kitchen shaking during a 4.8 magnitude earthquake , with a frightened dog running for cover. The clip captures a loud crash, followed by intense rumbling and items tumbling from a pantry.
The person who posted the video, Gera24, said that the cities of El Centro and Imperial in California felt the strongest effects of the quakes last weekend.
In other homes, things like pictures fell off walls because of the shaking. The USGS said there were 15 quakes in one hour. People from San Diego to Arizona felt the ground move.
Experts say about 500,000 earthquakes this size happen every year around the world. They say quakes from 2.5 to 5.4 on the scale are usually felt but don’t cause much damage.
