There has to be some leniency,’ cries woman hit with $500 fine for ‘violating code’ with essential change to driveway

A WOMAN was hit with a multi-hundred dollar fine several years after paying for a construction project designed to help her walk through her property more easily.

Nearly 15 years ago, Carol Waddell of San Diego, California sought to make it easier for her to walk to her door from her car, as she suffered from bad knees and a heart condition.

She revealed to ABC affiliate KGTV that she sometimes had to park her vehicle three blocks away from her home in the University Heights neighborhood.

Waddell, who is retired, explained that she is “not able to walk very well” and decided to install a concrete pad near her home that she would be able to park over.

The whole project cost her approximately $1,500.

However, seven years after the project was installed on her property, Waddell was hit with a fine from the city.
