JUAREZ, Mexico (Border Report) – Soldiers on Tuesday took control of a neighborhood in north Juarez after a sign left on a bridge alerted authorities to a home where allegedly 30 bodies are buried.
The soldiers carried rifles, stopped and searched motorists passing near the house on the 1100 block of Calle Cafeto as residents expressed disbelief at the possibility one of their neighbors could have facilitated the existence of a clandestine cemetery.
“It is hard to believe. We never see a lot of (suspicious) movement, we don’t see cars come and go,” said Cristina, a neighbor who declined to give her last name. “I see what they are saying on social media, but we’ve never seen (violence) up close.
The woman said she does not know the owners of the house one block down the street — a large property painted different colors as if to resemble three different, contiguous residences. “Sometimes it is better to not get involved with your neighbors too much,” Cristina said.
