SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A 31-year-old man was critically injured Friday after an altercation led to a stabbing in the Egger Highlands neighborhood, authorities said.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the victim was involved in a verbal spat with another man in the 1900 block of Palm Avenue shortly before 3 a.m. It was reported that the disagreement escalated into a physical fight.

The suspect, described as a Hispanic man between the age of 30 and 35, allegedly pulled out a kitchen knife and stabbed the victim once in the neck, SDPD explained. At that point, a 31-year-old woman allegedly tried to step between the two men and ended up being hit in the head by an unknown blunt object.
Both victims were transported by ambulance to a local hospital. The woman sustained a minor laceration above her left eye, while the stabbed man was determined to have life-threatening injuries.
The suspect was last seen headed westbound on Palm Avenue wearing a white hat, maroon sweater and tan pants, police said.
