Gas prices in California appear to continue going down

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Gas prices in the state of California have slowed their climb and are now trending downward, according to the latest numbers from AAA .

As of Wednesday, the average price for a gallon of regular gas in California was just about $5.33. That’s about six cents cheaper than a week ago , when it averaged $5.39.

In San Diego, the current average is $5.30 for a gallon of regular gas, which is about five cents cheaper than last week’s price. Still, gas prices in San Diego remain higher than this same time a year ago, when regular gas averaged about $4.85 a gallon.

California’s gas prices are also still much higher than numbers reported nationwide. The national average for a gallon of regular gas is $3.64. Last week’s national average was about $3.67, according to AAA.

Napa had the highest average gas prices in the state as of Wednesday at $5.62 for a gallon of regular gas. Meanwhile, San Bernardino ($5.21), Orange County ($5.20) and Redding ($5.17) had the cheapest average gas prices.
