Cartel Crackdown: Big Border Drug Busts Continue

U.S. Federal Agents continue to report large busts of Mexican Cartel smugglers along the U.S. Southern Border. Among the latest are some significant seizures in Texas, Arizona and California:

On September First, U.S. Customs & Border Protection (CBP) Officers on the Camino Real International Bridge in Eagle Pass, Texas discovered more than $700,000 worth of drugs being smuggled across the border from Piedras Negras, Mexico.

CBP officers found 31 packages containing more than 69 pounds of methamphetamine and one package containing almost three pounds of heroin in a van being driven across the bridge. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) is following up on the seizure.

On September Third, Border Patrol Agents assigned to the San Diego Sector’s San Clemente Station seized 66 pounds of methamphetamine being smuggled inside a vehicle from Tijuana. So far this fiscal year the San Diego Border Patrol Sector has seized nearly TWO TONS of the drug.
