LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – A Lubbock native will soon return home after he was injured in the line of duty in California. Zachary Martinez, 27, is a police officer in San Diego. He was seriously injured Aug. 27 when a car struck him and his partner, Austin Machitar, 30, as they were responding to a pursuit. Machitar was killed at the scene.
