Motorcyclist runs red light, collides with vehicle: police

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A man riding a motorcycle was sent to the hospital Sunday after colliding with a vehicle in Mission Valley West, authorities said.

According to the San Diego Police Department, the man was on a 2014 Suzuki motorcycle and was traveling westbound on Hotel Circle South around 7:30 p.m.

At that same time, a 66-year-old man was driving a 2015 Toyota Prius eastbound on Taylor Street, police said. The vehicle had a green light and made a left turn onto the on-ramp of Interstate 8.

Meanwhile, the motorcycle failed to stop at the red light and collided into the vehicle, the department explained. The motorcyclist sustained a fractured pelvis and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Traffic Units responded to the scene and will be handling the investigation. Police said alcohol was not a factor in this crash.
