Motorcyclist killed in South Bay crash identified

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A motorcyclist killed in a crash earlier this week in Otay Mesa has been identified, local medical officials said.

Jose Angel Ruan Lopez, 20, died in the collision on Enrico Fermi Drive northbound, located north of Otay Mesa Road, the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office said on its website.

On Monday around 4:40 a.m., Ruan Lopez was riding a Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle when for unknown reasons he struck a yellow box truck that was disabled and parked along the east curb, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Ruan Lopez suffered major injuries after being ejected from the motorcycle and onto the roadway. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities shut down Enrico Fermi Drive northbound to investigate.
