Man stabbed in back near Midway District transit stop: police

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A man was stabbed in the back near a transit stop in the Midway District Sunday night, San Diego police said. No suspect has been arrested.

The incident was first reported around 8:50 p.m. According to SDPD, the victim, identified as a 37-year-old man, had been walking on the sidewalk along Sports Arena Boulevard when the suspect came up and stabbed him with an unknown object.

The victim reported hearing barking prior to the attack, police added.

He sustained one wound to the area next to his left armpit and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The injury is not considered life threatening at this time, according to SDPD.

A suspect has not been identified, nor has a description been provided. Anyone with information regarding the stabbing is asked to contact SDPD or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
