Help Wanted in Identifying Man Killed by Car in Lakeside

Authorities reached out to the public today for help identifying a man who was killed in a traffic accident last month in eastern San Diego County.

The man, who appeared to be in his mid-50s, was fatally struck by a car on Mapleview Street in Lakeside on Aug. 30, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Investigators have been unable to identify the decedent through standard means, including checks of fingerprints, dental records and DNA, the agency reported.

Anyone who might be able to help identify the man — who was 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighed about 200 pounds and had brown hair, brown eyes and a scar on the back of his left hand — is asked to call the medical examiner at 858-694-2895.
