Suspected bank robber arrested in Imperial Beach

IMPERIAL BEACH, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — A man is in custody following a bank robbery that took place on around 9 a.m. on Friday at the Chase Bank in Imperial Beach, authorities said.

According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded swiftly to reports of a robbery in progress in the 1100 block of Palm Avenue. Upon arrival, bank employees recounted that a man had entered the establishment, demanded money and fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash after employees complied with his demands.

In the ensuing minutes, deputies conducted a thorough search of the area. Their efforts paid off just before 10 a.m. when they apprehended a man who matched the suspect’s description. Witnesses at the bank confirmed that the individual was indeed the suspect involved in the robbery, according to authorities.

The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Rashad McNeely, was arrested and booked into the San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of robbery and other related offenses.
