Cooler, Wet Weather with Strong Winds Expected in San Diego Region Starting Monday

San Diego and surrounding counties are set for a significant weather change as temperatures cool and wet, windy conditions arrive next week. After a warm weekend inland, a low-pressure system will bring cooler weather beginning Monday, with temperatures expected to drop by 10 to 15 degrees in valleys, mountains, and high desert areas by midweek, according to the National Weather Service.

The coastal areas will see patchy fog and low clouds throughout the weekend, with temperatures several degrees warmer than Friday. By Monday, however, stronger winds will develop, especially in desert mountain slopes, deserts, and mountain passes, where gusts could reach 55 to 65 mph.

Light rainfall is anticipated Monday through Tuesday, with totals around a tenth of an inch for most areas west of the mountains, though coastal slopes may see up to a quarter of an inch. Snow levels could dip to around 6,000 feet, potentially bringing a dusting to mountain peaks. Additionally, nighttime temperatures will be lower, with patchy frost possible in the High Desert by Wednesday morning. Dry but below-average temperatures are expected for the latter part of the week.
