Abandoned country saloon catches fire in Mission Valley

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — An abandoned building, once a popular country saloon and dance hall, caught fire in Mission Valley Saturday.

The San Diego Fire-Rescue Department received calls reporting smoke at 5373 Mission Center Rd. around 1:40 a.m. Responding firefighters discovered that the now-closed In Cahoots Dance Hall & Saloon was on fire, along with several trees around the building.

At that point, the fire commander requested a second-alarm response, meaning more firefighters and equipment were called in to battle the blaze.

“Thanks to the excellent work by our firefighters, no nearby structures were damaged and there were no injuries,” the department noted in an update at around 9 a.m.
