Two people were severely injured Tuesday when a car crashed near Naval Base San Diego, authorities reported.
The accident occurred at about 9:30 a.m., when a 63-year-old motorist lost control of his 2023 Jaguar XF in the 3500 block of East Harbor Drive in Barrio Logan, according to the San Diego Police Department.
The northbound sports car veered to the right and struck a light pole at high speed, SDPD Officer Sarah Foster said. The impact left a back-seat passenger with two fractured vertebrae and a person riding in front with a severed right arm. The latter’s injuries were considered life-threatening, according to police.
The wreck apparently occurred due to “a lack of sleep” on the part of the motorist, Foster said.
