Person Falls to Death at UCSD’s Geisel Library

UCSD’s Geisel Library has reopened after an unidentified person fell to their death late Wednesday morning.

The Triton campus newspaper reported that the as-yet unidentified person — who is not believed to be a UC San Diego student — fell to their death from the eighth-floor stairwell at around 11:35 a.m. Wednesday.

Campus police and library workers closed the library and evacuated patrons outside.

The university said the death posed no threat to the campus community, according to the Guardian campus newspaper.

UCSD’s Counseling and Psychological Services office said it was accepting walk-in appointments in light of the death.
