SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — The County of San Diego announced on Thursday a significant funding opportunity aimed at expanding affordable housing for low-income residents and unsheltered veterans.
A total of $11.5 million has been made available through a new Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA), which seeks proposals from qualified developers to help address the region’s growing housing crisis.
The funding will come from a combination of sources, including $6.5 million from the federal HOME Investment Partnerships ( HOME ) program, $3.5 million from the state’s Permanent Local Housing Allocation ( PLHA ) program, and $1.5 million from the county’s Innovative Housing Trust Fund (IHTF).
In addition to these direct financial resources, the NOFA also provides applicants the opportunity to apply for Project-Based Vouchers (PBVs) through the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program and the Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH) program, further increasing the potential for supportive housing development
