Tunnel to Towers pays off mortgages for families of two SD fallen heroes on Veterans Day

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — In honor of Veterans Day, nonprofit Tunnel to Towers Foundation has paid off the mortgages for 40 families of fallen first responders, including two in San Diego.

The Tunnel to Tower Foundation has been providing mortgage-free homes to Gold Star and fallen first responder families with young children since Sept. 11, 2001.

The Tunnel to Towers Gold Star Family Home Program honors the legacy of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice by paying off mortgages for surviving spouses and young children.

This Veterans Day, Tunnel to Towers is not only paying off the mortgages for dozens of families, the organization in recent months has also broken ground on Veterans Villages in Denver, Colorado; Buffalo, New York; Detroit, Michigan; and North Charleston, South Carolina.

Here in San Diego, Tunnel to Towers paid off the mortgages on Veterans Day 2024 for the families of Navy Petty Officer First Class Christopher John Chambers and Navy Chief Petty Officer Delfin Dulay.
