A parade, 5K and tailgate party: San Diego ramps up for Holiday Bowl

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — With the 45th annual DIRECTV Holiday Bowl matchup between Syracuse and Washington State just about a week away, San Diego is hosting a lineup of events leading up to the big game.

After two seasons at Petco Park, the Holiday Bowl is back at Snapdragon Stadium in Mission Valley on Friday, Dec. 27. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. Pacific Standard Time (8 p.m. Eastern).

To get college football fans amped up for the big day, a handful of festivities will be taking place next weekend throughout the city.

Matchup set for 2024 DIRECTV Holiday Bowl at Snapdragon Stadium

On Thursday, Dec. 26, the Gaslamp Quarter in downtown San Diego will come alive for the fourth annual Snapdragon Bowl Bash , which features free family-friendly activities, food and drinks, live music and more.

The two university bands will also face off in a Battle of the Bands. The Bowl Bash takes place from 5 to 7 p.m. and starts at Fifth Avenue and Market Street.
