Breezier, wetter weather is expected for San Diego County this week, with a gradual warming trend over the holidays into next weekend.
Coastal San Diego may see some light drizzle early in the week, with some light wind, partly cloudy conditions through the week and highs in the low to upper 60s.
On Tuesday — Christmas Eve — a quick-moving trough of low pressure will move across the West Coast bringing breezy and wet conditions to the region, said the National Weather Service.
“Onshore westerly winds will increase Tuesday and peak Tuesday night, strongest in the mountains, through passes, and into the deserts,” San Diego NWS said. “Current forecast has peak wind gusts of 35-45 mph, locally up to 55 mph in wind prone locations.”
Inland valley areas will see partly cloudy conditions throughout the week, with a slight chance of showers Tuesday afternoon and highs ranging in the mid-60s to low 70s. Mountain areas could also expect to see some light showers by Tuesday, with partly cloudy conditions and highs in the low 60s.
