In an announcement to streamline the jaunt for San Diegans to the nation’s capital, Alaska Airlines has thrown open the doors for bookings on its freshly minted nonstop flight from San Diego to Washington, D.C. The eagerly-awaited connection, flagging off on March 17 next year, links San Diego International Airport with Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), revealed by The San Diego Union-Tribune. This route achievement follows the U.S. Department of Transportation’s nod, part of the Federal Aviation Administration Reauthorization Act of 2024, which relaxed the airport’s perimeter rule, usually capping nonstop flights within a 1,250-mile radius of DCA unless exceptions apply.
