SANTEE (FOX 5/KUSI) — Nine years ago, doctors gave Robert Metz little chance of survival after suffering sudden cardiac arrest on Christmas Day. He and his family have lived in the Starlight Circle neighborhood for 40 years.
“I was alone downstairs and out of nowhere, I fell dead. No indicators I was in trouble. My heart stopped and that was it,” said Metz.
His wife, Marcy, said after 120 minutes of CPR doctors feared there was nothing more they could do, so the family turned to their faith.

“Everybody just stood still and were looking at the monitor and all of a sudden starts a heartbeat back,” she said.
After surviving cardiac arrest, her husband went into a coma and had total kidney failure. Doctors still didn’t think he would make it.
“My wife was advised to make funeral arrangements, and she kept it to herself. She never told anybody about that because there were so many people praying for me,” said Robert Metz.
