Victim in Oak Park Independent Living Facility shooting identified

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — On Thursday, authorities identified the man who was fatally shot inside an independent living facility in the Oak Park neighborhood Saturday night.

According to the San Diego Police Department, officers responded to a call Saturday around 10:24 p.m. regarding someone who had been shot.

Upon arrival, they found a 49-year-old man inside the independent living facility located at 3133 54th St. near Redwood Street.

Officers responding to the scene found the man with a single gunshot wound to his torso, police said. The man has been identified as Dennis Robinson of San Diego.

Despite life-saving efforts at the scene and at a nearby hospital, Robinson died from his injury, SDPD stated.

Nine people were inside the facility at the time of the incident, according to police. The department added that detectives are working to interview those individuals to learn where the shooting took place. Investigators will also be collecting and reviewing security video from the surrounding area.
