SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Two young boys were shot on New Year’s Eve in Escondido, according to police. Both are expected to survive.
The shooting was first reported around 11:30 p.m. in an alley to the rear of the 1100 block of East 3rd Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found the two juveniles, each with a gunshot wound, a spokesperson for the Escondido Police Department said.
Both were transported to a hospital for treatment. At this time, the injuries are not considered life-threatening. Their identities have not been disclosed by police.
No further information was immediately available, including a description of any suspects.
An investigation into the incident remains ongoing. Per Escondido police, authorities are looking into the possibility that the shooting may be gang related.
