Body found in San Diego Harbor

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A Wisconsin man was found dead last week in the San Diego Harbor, local medical officials said.

Cale Jonathan Uecker, 46, was identified as the victim, the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office said on its website.

Uecker arrived at the San Diego Harbor for work on Wednesday, according to authorities. San Diego Harbor police say he was alone when he apparently fell overboard from one ship while transitioning to a second ship.

On Thursday morning, co-workers began to search for Uecker after they had not seen him. He was then found floating near Pier 17 at Cesar Chavez Park in the harbor between the ships.

First responders were called to the scene where they pulled the victim from the water and pronounced him dead due to postmortem changes.

The cause of his death is still under investigation.
