SAN DIEGO — Brenda Spencer, the 16-year-old girl who killed two adults and injured eight children at Grover Cleveland Elementary School in San Diego in 1979, is up for parole once again- in what will be her seventh attempt at freedom.
On January 29, 1979, just after 8:30 in the morning, Spencer steadied herself behind the .22 caliber semi-automatic rifle that her dad bought her for Christmas and took aim at the elementary school across the street from her San Carlos home. She opened fire.
Spencer fired 36 rounds, killing the school’s principal, Burton Wragg, and school custodian, Mike Suchar, and injuring nine others, including eight students and a police officer…
